Mar: ‘Quarter House’ explores the essence of minimum dwelling. Here, value is not a question of size, but of what was already there: three wooden balcony doors, south-west light, a long balcony, and views over the port.

The renovation works through subtraction and recovery, revealing the material layers of the existing apartment while introducing a limited number of precise new elements. Brick walls, timber beams and fragments of hydraulic tiles are retained and brought into dialogue with new timber joinery, steel, textured glass and white volumes. Existing materials are not reconstructed as a historical image, but reorganised to form a new spatial order in which old and new remain clearly legible.
