Unique Ground floor apartments in Molins del Rei. The renovation of this apartment is based in revealing and dignifying the original material character of the building while introducing a calm, contemporary layer that enhances comfort and spatial clarity. The project embraces the existing construction as the main architectural protagonist: the Catalan vaulted ceilings are exposed and restored, allowing their warm ceramic tones to define the atmosphere of the home, while the rubble stone walls, previously concealed, are brought back to view, offering texture, depth, and a strong sense of place. These expressive elements coexist with visible concrete reinforcements, creating a subtle dialogue between the different historical layers of the building.

Against this rich material backdrop, the new interventions are defined by sobriety and precision. Continuous oak flooring brings warmth and unifies the spaces, guiding movement through the apartment with a soft, natural tactility. The kitchen and storage elements are resolved with white, minimal joinery that complements the existing textures without competing with them, while black-framed windows and sliding doors introduce a contemporary graphic clarity. Large openings connect the living spaces with the terrace, drawing light deep into the interior and allowing the restored materials to be read throughout the day.

Lighting is treated as an architectural tool, used sparingly and integrated discreetly to highlight the stone walls, vaults, and transitions without disturbing the overall calm. Mirrors are employed strategically to extend visual depth and enhance the perception of space. The result is a balanced interior where the weight and authenticity of the original construction are met with a measured contemporary intervention. The home becomes a warm and serene environment, rooted in its material heritage yet fully aligned with modern living.
